Last Thursday, The Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries hosted its 10th annual Thanksgiving meal with help from Structural Graphics and other local businesses.
On November 28, 2013, Structural Graphics provided food to The Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries’ annual Thanksgiving meal. The food was donated by Structural Graphics employees and funds supported by the company’s charitable giving committee.
This year, Structural Graphics provided 45 pounds of sweet potatoes, 40 pounds of white potatoes, carrots, green beans, fried onions, and other dishes to support the event. Volunteers from the kitchen used the food to make mashed potatoes, sweet potato and green bean casserole for its patrons.
More than 150 community members and guests volunteered at the Thanksgiving Meal.
“We are so grateful to the employees of Structural Graphics for once again collecting and donating the food needed to make our Thanksgiving Holiday Meal,” said Patricia M. Dowling, executive director of The Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries. “The best part of the day is that so many in the community come together to make this day happen—a day for those in need of food and fellowship. A day of family and friends sharing a meal and laughter.”
Structural Graphics has contributed to The Shoreline Soup Kitchens and Pantries for the last six years through its Employee Charitable Giving Committee, which began in July 2003.
The committee raises money through fundraisers as well as employee and company contributions to support special causes.
Other organizations Structural Graphics supports include: Bikes for Kids; High Hopes Therapeutic Riding Academy; American Cancer Society; New London Homeless Coalition; Habitat for Humanity; The Autism Walk; The CURE for Breast Cancer and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
